A wide range of training options

The Agricultural College offers you a range of training options—whether you are a school student intent on full-time study or undertaking a traineeship, or a mature-age worker planning to formally recognise your skills, update your qualifications or take on a short course to learn new skills. Great job prospects for graduates

The Agricultural College campuses’ history of high-achieving, work ready graduates attracts a huge demand from rural employers and those from associated industries seeking staff. Over the years, the campuses have consistently shown excellent graduate employment statistics, with about 95 per cent of full-time course graduates gaining employment within three months of completing their courses, and some moving on to further study.

Nationally recognised training

All full-time courses and traineeships are offered in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework standards, ensuring that you gain skills that are up to date and meet industry requirements. Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by the Agricultural College are recognised around Australia.

Industry relevance

Courses are developed with industry in mind, with input from employers and industry playing an invaluable role in planning the Agricultural College’s courses and curriculum. Each of the campuses has strong ties with industry, and selected courses at some campuses offer students vocational placement with local employers.

Specialised training

Each campus offers a range of specialised training, giving you the choice of in-depth studies in the area that supports your career plans. Depending on the campus, you can choose specialisations in areas including beef cattle, crop production, equine studies, horticulture, agribusiness or environmental studies. Each specialisation area is supported by industry-experienced instructors and extensive facilities.

Hands-on learning

The Agricultural College offers a balance of theoretical studies with practical, hands-on training. Each campus incorporates working properties and other facilities where you will have the opportunity to be involved in the day-to-day running of a commercial operation. Gain professional work experience while you learn.

Off-campus learning experiences

Depending on your chosen study path or course, you could have a range of off-campus learning experiences to choose from—visits and tours to commercial farms, properties or vineyards, attendance at livestock sales, industry trade shows, conferences and field days, participation in the local show circuit competitions, and many more.

Supportive and friendly campuses

Class sizes are generally small, giving you the benefit of a high instructor-to-student ratio. Friendly college staff will do their best to help you with any inquiries or issues. The campuses have library and IT facilities to support your studies, and sporting and/or recreational facilities to host social activities. The Dalby, Longreach, Emerald and Burdekin campuses also have on-campus accommodation for students.
