About Burdekin campus

The Burdekin campus, divided over two properties, is located at Clare, 90 kilometres south of Townsville (Queensland's second largest city) and 40km from the large regional towns of Ayr and Home Hill.

The main campus is made up of the administration centre, student residential accommodation, classrooms, workshops, staff housing, a 400-hectare sugar farm, a 125-hectare small crops section and over 2000 hectares of general grazing country.
The property includes Claredale, a registered 160-head Australian stock horse and quarter horse stud, producing high quality horses for sale and stock work as well as equestrian and show work. Students also have access to practical training at Beckers—the campus’ 4500-hectare operating cattle property located 20 kilometres south of the main campus.
The Burdekin campus specialises in the following fields:
- beef cattle production
- meat processing
- horse breeding
- sugar production
- production horticulture
- engineering
Courses include aspects of rural business and property management, a variety of irrigation techniques, computer operations, stock control and farm vehicle and machinery maintenance.
